Game Dev Meet Anniversary Celebration

Fabamaq hosts the celebration of the 2nd anniversary of Game Dev Meet @Porto

The second anniversary of the Game Dev Meet @Porto community is celebrated at the new FMQ - Fabamaq office on May 31st. The event is organized by NECGM - the Student Nucleus of Computer Graphics and Multimedia of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, and FMQ is a partner of this technological community.

Game Dev Meet are informal gatherings that take place on the last Friday of every month in Porto, aiming to bring together the national Game Dev community and foster knowledge sharing in this area. The meetings typically gather around 70 people and include presentations and showcases of new games.

The event format does not follow the traditional audience model, prioritizing the demonstration of games on individual tables and the sharing of development processes or games running on shared screens. Participants of Game Dev Meet @Porto showcase their personal projects to the community, share challenges or issues encountered, and benefit from interaction with other participants to find the answers they seek.

At Game Dev Meets, there is not only space for electronic games but also for the demonstration of small machines developed by participants or board games that are experimented with and tested on the spot. Some editions also include Q&A sessions organized with industry professionals to facilitate more organized information sharing.

DISCUSSION ABOUT THE STATE OF THE ART OF THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY ON THE 2ND ANNIVERSARY OF THE COMMUNITY

In the commemorative edition of the 2nd anniversary, Game Dev Meet @Porto will combine the usual dynamics of game demonstration with a discussion focused on reflecting on the current state of the video game industry in Portugal. For this purpose, the views of various indie developers of reference will be gathered.
Among the confirmed names at the event are Ricardo Mota, who has worked at Big Moon Entertainment, and Marco Vale, a professional who works at the independent studio Indot and has made several contributions to the Udemy community. FMQ is a partner of Game Dev Meet @Porto and has five gamers on its team involved in organizing these meetings – João Marinheiro, Daniel Pereira, Henrique Basto, Diogo Barroso, and Mário Esteves. More than 100 members of the national Game Dev community are expected to attend the meeting scheduled for the last day of May.
